Kayla spent the first week of being a 1-year old playing with all her new toys. One of her favorite is her truck that her Great Grandma Olander (pictured above) gave her. She can push her toys around in it or ride on it herself.
She's learning so much it seems. She's definitely trying to communicate more with us and she gets a little frustrated when we can't figure out what she's saying. Her favorite words to say are apple, banana (nana), and baby.

She can now use sign language when she wants milk and she's eating a variety of foods even though she only has 2 teeth. (She just got her second tooth right before turning 1 last week).

We made a trip to Knox, Indiana this past weekend just so Kayla could meet and visit with her Great Grandma P. It was a great trip and Kayla was on her best behavior. We're pretty sure she made a great impression on her Grandma.
Her Grandma is recovering from hip surgery at C Kasper Home at Ancilla College. So, Kayla got to meet and eat with a lot of the nuns there as well. She was a huge hit every time we went to the dining hall for lunch and dinner. Sister Philomene (which was Grandma's actual sister-in-law) made sure we received star treatment while we were there. She gave us a special table in the center of the room and everyone would wave to Kayla and she would smile and wave back while we ate. She even did the double wave (with both hands going at the same time). Must have been something she learned at daycare!
Kayla loved meeting her Grandma and hopes to return again some day soon.
