Here are the stats on Kayla's 3 yr checkup last week...

WT: 28.5 lbs.
HT: 36 inches
percentile: 25th for both height and weight

She did great at the doctors and the visit was quick and painless. Kayla got out without any shots (which was a nice surprise) and a lollipop. The doctor gave Kayla some simple instructions to touch her toes, run and touch the wall, etc. and she followed all her directions well.

For the record, here are some of her other stats...

Clothing size: 3T (and still some 2T on pants and shorts)
Shoe size: 7 but soon to be 7.5

Just thought I'd write a quick blog about some of Kayla's funny little habits.

She's a very independent spirit and has to do things for herself. She has specific things that she absolutely has to do.... like flush the toilet after she goes. Heaven forbid that someone else flush it for her. She also has to latch the top latch on her carseat. Even if she's carrying on a full conversation and you'd think she wasn't paying attention.... if you latch the top latch, she'll let out a quick squeal to let you know that's her job.

So, today I was asking her how her day went at school and she said she had a good day except that Haylee flushed her pee pee. I asked if she cried and she said "no" but she told her that she better not flush her pee pee. I thought that was hysterical.

She also likes to mimic things that she sees. For example, last week we went to one of the children's museums and there was a small show where they were showing the kids a snake. But, they couldn't pet the snake until the end of the show. So, over the weekend, she said that all her blankets were snakes. She lined them all up and then asked us to ask her if we could pet them. Once we did, her response was "no, not until the end of the show". She's a riot.

A couple of weeks ago Kayla had a visit from her Grandma Sue. In this picture hey played with some playdoh. Kayla loves to stamp out cookies. They also went to the zoo, the aquarium and the beach.

The trip to the zoo was especially eventful. Kayla got to ride a pony and a llama. She really got a kick out of that.
Kayla turned 3 just a couple weeks ago and it really seemed like we celebrated for several weeks. She seems so grown up now and the things that come out of her mouth are so funny. A couple weeks ago she started a story with..."When I was a little girl in Cambodia..."

Today at dinner, she looked at me, smiled and said that she had a good dream today that we went to the zoo and swimming. She said that she sometimes dreams during her naps at school. She's also been having pretty good days at school lately too and the teachers say that she's been very helpful, helping them clean up and stuff.

At home, she's mostly into reading and dressing her stuffed animals and dolls. She's potty training all of them now and it's amazing how patient she is. I think she changes more diapers on them than Mike and I ever did.

She doesn't watch a lot of TV, but when she gets up in the morning she's always asking for WordWorld or Dora! She could watch marathon sessions of both if we'd let her.

Here's a few of the nice gifts that kayla got for her 3rd birthday...

-Lots of beautiful clothes
-A beautiful Sleeping Beauty music box
-dress up magnet dolls and dress up dolls for the bath tub
-My Little Pony - Pinkie Pie
-Books (A Fluffy book seems to be a big favorite right now)
-An inflatable toddler canoe for the pool
-A coin collector and a spy scope
-Bubbles, Playdoh, crayons, coloring books, etc.
-A bracelet and necklace.
-A Dora lunch box/purse
-Crocs

About a month ago Kayla's Grandpa Bob came to visit over Father's Day weekend. She took him to one of her favorite spots - the Florida Aquarium. She loved showing him all the fish and other animals.

In this picture she is pointing out the differences between sea urchins and starfish.
