READY FOR A BIG GIRL BED?
We thought we'd let Kayla try out sleeping on a twin bed instead of in the crib this weekend. We had bought bed rails for both sides and gave it a shot Friday night. By 6:30 am, I hadn't heard a peep and all had gone well. Then, around 6:45 we heard a big THUD followed a few seconds later by crying! I ran in to find that she rolled herself off the end of the bed and landed on the hardwood floor-- the only 2 feet around the bed that didn't have pillows and blankets lining it. Not the best way to wake up, if you can imagine. The rest of the day, when she was grumpy, we couldn't help but ask if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Haha.

So, we're not sure if this is a permanent switch or not, but we'll see. I've heard mixed thoughts on when to switch to the big bed. Many people these days are actually recommending to wait closer to age 3, but there are still others suggesting age 2. Saturday night, she made it through a whole night in the big bed and stayed by the top of the bed. Not sure yet what we'll do tonight since it's a school/work night for everyone!

Toilet training continued this week with some successes and some signs of losing interest. She's almost always dry in the morning, but sometimes she has no interest in using the potty. Or like yesterday, she used it after her nap which was great. But later before her bath, Mike was filling the tub and I went to go get her little potty. Mike asked if she would please go potty before getting in the tub. She smiled and said yes, but proceeded to pee right there on the tile floor. We have to be careful what we ask for!

The picture above is of her "reading" one of her Dora books. She's starting to enjoy leafing through them on her own and reciting the stories as she knows them.
